Pūlama Lāna‘i staff, which includes cultural experts, is working with others in the community to identify, protect, and preserve Hawaiian archeological sites as well as many historical sites from Lāna‘i’s plantation days.  Many of these sites are in areas made inaccessible by dense ironwood and kiawe forests, or thick brush.

And it isn’t just the ancient past that’s worth preserving.  So are many of the things we enjoy today.  Pūlama Lāna‘i is working with business owners around the town square to ensure that the look and feel of Dole Park and the town’s historic core is protected and preserved.  It is also envisioned that the labor-fleet yard would be transformed into a large museum.
